Digging In
/Hello, I hope this finds you well as we move into the month of May.
It feels like it’s been a while since we last connected, I don’t know if you’re feeling that too. So much has been going on that it feels like a day is more like a week, and time feels like it’s all over the place. I’m so glad that we can connect today and I hope that this message will give you a little respite from your day to day responsibilities; even if only for a few moments.
It’s rainy and quiet in my little corner of the world today as I write to you. The big message that keeps showing up for this month is all about focus. There’s a strong message about investing in quiet time to allow ourselves to clear the white noise, distractions, and even background noise of our modern life so we can begin to retrain ourselves to focus. Like most things, the more we do something, the better we get at it; focus and concentration are included in this skill set. These aspects are like muscles that need to be worked on a regular basis to stay strong and sharp. What may have felt easy and even organic to us a handful of years ago, may feel a little more challenging as of late. If you’re noticing this in your own life, please know that you’re not alone. The increase in notifications, updates, breaking news, schedule reminders etc. along with all of the other responsibilities you have in your daily life contributes to this system overload; which places distractions and broken focus at the forefront of daily life. Overtime, this experience is what is being reinforced or exercised to become stronger and sharper. Sometimes, this can increase feelings of stress, tension, and low grade anxiety inside the body. The good news is that you can shift this experience and increase your focus again while also increasing calm and personal peace.
One of the biggest messages I received about this was giving yourself permission to dig into the aspect that is most prescient for you right now. So, for example, if you’re feeling overwhelm because you have something that’s been on your to do list for a while, make it a priority this month. Maybe you’re being guided to clean out your closets, donate things that are no longer serving you, get things up and out of the way so you can experience a physical relief in your space and your life. This “nagging feeling” you’re receiving is a divine download about what you’re personally being guided to focus on first. Not everyone will have the same first “task” but whatever it is will lead to a huge relief in the body, mind, and spirit and will allow you to have more breathing room, bandwidth, and increase for focus.
Then, the next piece is about cultivating time for quiet or personal peace so you can decompress and focus on something that feels supportive and uplifting for you. This has a win win aspect because you will be strengthening and exercising your muscles for focus and concentration while also investing in something that supports, soothes, and calms your nervous system. This also allows you to more easily access your higher self, messages, and your personal flow. There’s no one way or right way to do this and it may be different on different days depending on how you’re feeling. You may feel guided to practice a musical instrument, knit, color in a coloring book, read a physical book that your hold in your hands, listen to music without scrolling, meditate, go for a walk, work in your garden, make something just for fun, including a meal or something you’ve been wanting to try. It’s not so much about what you choose to do, but that you do something every day (if possible) for 15-20 minutes without multi-tasking. So, turn off your notifications, devices, and yes, place your phone on airplane mode and get it out of your sight line so you can truly invest in focus and self care. These are 100% linked, and as focus is fractured, so is self care. If you can place some items that you enjoy in places that you can easily access, it will make investing in this practice easier for you.
The last piece for this message is about giving yourself permission to learn something new or to return to something you did in the past. So, if you’re feeling guided to learn a new skill, or you’ve been saying one day I’d like to learn how to do ________, you’re being guided to invest in this skill set. There are thousands of hours of tutorials on just about anything you can imagine available for free on YouTube or very low cost on other spaces online. Maybe you know someone in your real life that can support you and teach you how to do __________. The time is now, and every seemingly small investment in learning something new adds up very quickly. It’s never too late to learn something new. Yes, you can do it. For those of you who are being guided to return to something that has been placed onto a shelf or the back burner for whatever reasons, it’s time to get back to it again. If this is you, you know what it is because it’s a message that you’ve been receiving for quite some time. Get out the things you need to invest in this part of your life so you can easily reach and access them and begin again.
As we progress through this month and the rest of the year, this skill set of focus and concentration is going to be increasingly important. Allowing yourself to dig into a practice of protecting and strengthening this skill set is a worthwhile investment of your time and energy. If you start your practice this month, you’ll notice a palpable difference by the time we turn the calendar. Maybe you can ask a trusted friend or loved one to join you in this practice so you have a built in support system. 15-20 minutes daily will make a difference and you will notice the impact in your day to day life.
If you’d like for me to take a look at some of the themes and messages that are showing up for you right now, I’d be happy to support you during a session. If there’s something else that you want to focus on entirely, I’d love to support you in those themes as well.
I’m wishing you a very gentle month filled with comfort and support, as you allow yourself to dig into the spaces and places that you’re being guided to focus on right now.
As always, I’m sending you love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world straight to you!
With love and gratitude,
Kristy~ xoxo
P.S. A very Happy Mother’s Day to those of you who are celebrating this month.
