Cultivating a Sacred Space

I hope this finds you well as we welcome, October.
Just like the quote above, I’m also glad that I live in a world where there are October’s. This month is full of change and tends to kick off the Autumn festivities (in the Northern Hemisphere) while also beginning the season of pulling our energy inward. This month creates a beautiful dance between celebrating the Autumn season and the call to bring our attention into that quiet space within.

You may have some things on your to do list that are quintessentially representative of October. Maybe you like to go apple picking, or to your local pumpkin patch. Maybe you like to photograph the colors of the leaves as they change this month. Maybe you like to host an Autumn hot cider porch party to mark the season or something else entirely that feels like October to you. In any ways that you mark this season, this month offers us a lot of opportunities to really integrate into the new season and to see the changes happening all around us.

You may notice that as the leaves are changing outside, you feel changes happening within you too. As we’re guided to spend more time indoors with the days getting shorter and the evenings getting cooler; you may find yourself releasing things that are no longer serving you. An increase in quiet time often allows us to hear the messages and guidance we’re receiving about changes we’re being guided to make within our own lives. You may find that you’re guided to invest in more rest, self care, and even creative outlets that have been on the back burner for you. You may also be guided to find ways to create more gentle and soothing spaces within your home. All of these things are supportive and nurturing for you and can help you to care and comfort yourself and the people and pets in your home.

Light is often a big topic during this month as the beautiful golden light is so prevalent throughout October. Many people intuitively cultivate this golden light within their homes as well. You may notice that you pull out warm lighting whether with twinkle lights, candles, or even by lighting your fireplace. There is a deep calling for us to cultivate sacred spaces within our homes, and that call is often increased during this time of year. You may already be answering that call naturally without even thinking about it. Creating a space or spaces that feel calming, cozy, and comforting allows for you and those in your home to truly let down and to decompress while also being supported at the same time. Sometimes, the simplest shifts like a small table next to a chair can be an invitation to enjoy a good book or a great place to journal. Bringing out some soft throw blankets, coloring books, a knitting basket, or that pile of books that you’ve been meaning to read and placing them in arms reach can help to cultivate spaces that are supportive and calming. These are subtle additions to a space that won’t take up a lot of room but will bring so much to you and to your home. These are simple but effective ways that we can cultivate and invest in sacred spaces within our homes and within our daily lives.

People often mention to me that they experience more messages, guidance, or connection from their angels, guides, or departed loved ones during this month. (You may notice this too.) Some people ask why I think this may be; and I think there are several reasons for this experience. I do find the veil to be quite thin during this month which can increase our connections with our spiritual support team and departed loved ones. I also find that as we become quiet and begin to focus inward, we more easily hear or experience the connection that’s happening within and around us. The more that we take care of ourselves and clear away the things that are no longer serving us, we also clear the decks so to speak and find it easier to notice the messages that are coming through for us throughout the day. All of these aspects contribute to an increased connection for us which is why I think people tend to experience more messages or connection during the month of October. By cultivating a space that feels supportive for you this season you also intuitively create space for you to increase your own personal connections. You may notice that you see repeating angel numbers like 222, 444, or 11:11 more frequently. You may find feathers, coins, hear meaningful songs, or see images of angels. You may interact with people who have the same name as a departed loved one, or even experience dreams about your departed loved one. If you want to increase these kinds of connections, you can ask to experience them and then when you do, simply notice them and say thank you. You’re not alone, and when we can clear away some of the excess noise from our busy and modern lives, we can more easily hear, see, feel, know, and experience the connections that are happening all around and within us.

I’m wishing you a beautiful and magical month filled with things, people, and experiences that feel uplifting and supportive for you. I’d love to hear how you’re cultivating your sacred spaces this month. I’m looking forward to adding warm lighting to my home, baking bread, and making lots of soup, stew, chili, and all the things in my little Dutch oven, plus lots of knitting.

I’m sending you so much love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world, right to you!
With love and gratitude,
Kristy~xoxo

Preparing for the Subtle Shift

Hi, I hope this finds you well as we welcome September.

We’ve finally made it to the months I affectionately refer to as the “bers.” Each year reaching September feels like a palpable marker and the beginning of the quiet and subtle shift that begins to move us into a new energy and a new season. Turning the page on the calendar for this month seems to bring with it a promise and a knowing that we are shifting not only the season and temperatures but we’re also beginning to shift within ourselves as well.

Even if you live somewhere like me where the temperature is still in the triple digits (yes, seriously) there is a feeling that we’re already inside the shift. We can look around and see aspects of this in our daily lives with the days beginning to shorten, the garden harvest being brought in for processing, and the cooler and crisp morning air. You may also have little ones back in school or you may be back in school too. There are all these little whispers around us letting us know that the summer season (for those of us in the northern hemisphere) is coming to a close.

When we think about the season of summer, it holds a lot of outward energy. We think about being outdoors, visiting with friends, taking a trip or two, working on projects, or even things like cooking or grilling outside. As we move through this in between time of the last few weeks of summer with autumn in our sightline we can take this time to reflect on what our summer themes and takeaways were for us and begin to think about moving gently but steadily into our next season.

I find this time of year to be a bit magical, the in between time of these two seemingly different seasons. We can use this as a way to prepare for something that we want to focus our attention on as we move into this next part of the year. Was there something showing up for you this season that has been on your list to invest in a bit more? Maybe slowing down is a theme showing up for you. Maybe pulling your energy inward and focusing on some inside activities or personal passion projects are beginning to tug at your heart strings. Our bodies and souls understand the rhythm of our seasonal cycles and we can feel those shifts within us too. Sometimes it shows up as a feeling of being ready for the next thing or rather feeling a bit done with the current energy. However the message shows up for you; it’s that same wisdom, you know it’s time for a change and mother nature delivers that shift right on time. Part of the magic for me (and maybe you find this for yourself too) is that even with one season being about outward energy and the next season pulling us inward, they are really working together hand in hand to support us in finding and experiencing balance.

As we move toward this new season on September 22nd; you may feel guided to tune into the way you’re feeling each day to get a sense of where you’re being guided to shift and prepare. This doesn’t have to take a long time, even a couple of minutes in the morning will give you a clear message about how you’re feeling and what you’re being called to do to honor your personal shift. Maybe you’ll receive messages about pulling out an extra throw blanket for the sofa or your bedroom. Maybe you’ll be guided to pull out some books that have been on your reading list and set them out where you can enjoy them. Maybe you’ll be guided to look through some of your favorite hearty recipes for inspiration. Maybe you’re already itching to fill your home with the scent of apple spice simmer pots, diffuser blends, or candles. Perhaps, you’re being guided to get your fall garden sewn, chop a little more wood for your wood pile, and put up a few more jars of food. These seemingly small messages lead to the shift we’re moving through together. As you honor the guidance that you’re receiving during this magical in between time, you’ll find that you’re ready for your new season and that you’ll be ready right on time. While your messages may look similar to someone else you know, they may also be different, because your messages are yours. If you feel like you could use some extra help in hearing your messages, you can always ask your angels and your guides for a clear message in your physical world that you’ll easily notice and understand. That is one of my all-time favorite ways to ask for a message, and I’ve found it to work great. You’ll also know by the way that you feel, trust yourself and please give yourself permission to lean into this magical time as we move from summer into autumn.

I’m wishing you a beautiful shift and I hope that it is filled with messages and guidance of support as we move through this change together.

I’m sending you so much love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world, right to you!
With love and gratitude,
Kristy~xoxo

Summer Shrub Cooler

This is a great drink to make when the heat begins to rise and you want something to keep you hydrated and cool you down. This is my favorite shrub recipe and the great thing about it is that there are endless combinations you can make depending on what you have on hand in your home. I hope you’ll enjoy this drink this season!

1 large glass or large mason jar
Fill glass with ice
Add:
2 ounces of tart cranberry, tart cherry, or pomegranate juice (your choice)
1 ounce of apple cider vinegar with the mother (any brand that you enjoy)
1 full can of sparkling water: lime, lemon, or berry are great choices to pair with your juice.
Fresh basil or mint for garnish, either muddled or a few fresh leaves on top, again your choice.
(Fresh Fruit is optional)
Enjoy!

How to Notice and Work Through Feelings of Being Unsettled

2.png

I just wanted to check in with you about a strong theme that’s been showing up over the last several days.

There’s this energy that’s been showing up, a feeling of needing to get going. A deep feeling, a pull, and a deep beckoning to get things done and to hit the ground running. While there are changes happening and people going back to work in some places, it’s important to give yourself permission to be where you’re at right now.

You may have inspiration and motivation to get some things done on your lists, which is absolutely wonderful! By all means, get your projects and plans set into motion in the ways that are right for you.

However, you’re not in a race or in a competition with anyone else.

It’s natural to feel the energies around you which may be buzzing with getting back to work and back to all the things. However, this level of intensity may make you feel like you have to play beat the clock or that the stay at home order is running out and you won’t have “enough” to show for your time at home.

If you’re feeling like you wish you could’ve done more during this time at home, please let that go.

If that should’ve done this, or that, or… have found you, please let that go.

You’re doing the best you can. We’re all doing the best we can with where we’re at and that’s all anyone can do. (or expect of you.)

This has been a unique and challenging time and you’ve moved through it in the ways that were right for you. It might not look like someone else’s experience and that’s okay.

Maybe you were baking all the sourdough
Maybe you were doing all the gardening
Maybe you were doing all the meditation and prayer work
Maybe you were doing all the zoom sessions
Maybe you were checking in on the elderly neighbors

Maybe you weren’t

Maybe you were taking things one day at a time
Maybe you were taking things one hour at a time on some days
Maybe you were taking care of yourself and those you’ve been sheltering in place with in the ways that you needed at that particular time.
Maybe you leaned into some much needed rest, quiet, and healing that you’ve needed for quite some time.

No matter what this time has looked like for you, it is Enough.

You are Enough.

Being where you are is important and you’re doing the best you can.

If you’re doing the best you can, that’s all anyone can expect of you. (no matter what you’ve been told by family members, mentors, supervisors, strangers on the gram, and yourself.)

So, breathe, check in with where you are and how your energy feels right now.

Ask yourself:

Am I being guided to do something on my list, today?

Or

Am I being guided to add a bit of rest and self care to my list, today?

Whatever is right for you, right now, in this moment, today; please give yourself permission to go at your own pace and focus on what is right for you, and only you.

So, I’m just checking in to tell you that you are enough today and every day.

Your stay at home time has been what it was meant to be for you, and it will continue do so for as long as you’re at home.

I’m sending you support, comfort, and a high five from my home to yours.

With love,
Kristy~ xoxo

7 Ways to Boost Your Wellness

Green+Drink+%282019_01_30+23_54_58+UTC%29.jpg

While we find ourselves in the middle of cold and flu season + inundated with news stories about COVID-19, you may find health and wellness on your mind right now.

I’ve included some powerful + easy ways to boost your wellness this season for you below.

  1. Wash Your Hands:
This one may seem silly to include but it’s a powerful way to keep you well this season.

  2. Sanitize Your Most Used Items:
Wipe down your phone, computer, tablet, remotes, ear buds, glasses, steering wheel, key chains, door knobs, counters, faucets, and light switches.

  3. Air Quality:
Change the Air Filter In Your Home and if possible, in your Office

  4. Increase Vitamin C:
Add lemon, lime, or grapefruit to your water to give your body a boost of vitamin C. You can also take a high quality vitamin C supplement.

  5. Water:
Drink lots of water to keep your body hydrated and to support your body in moving toxins out.

  6. Eat Nutrient Dense Foods:
Increase green leafy foods, whether you feel guided to eat them or drink them in a green drink.

  7. Sleep:
We need sleep so that our bodies can restore, replenish, and repair. Take some time to create a gentle space that’s conducive to good solid sleep. If you’re having a hard time getting solid sleep, you may need to take small naps during the day too.

Bonus Tips:

  • Use a Neti Pot or other nasal rinse system to keep your sinuses hydrated and clear of debris or infection. You can find these at any natural food store or online shops.

  • Use a humidifier to help keep the air in your home hydrated so your skin can absorb the moisture to support your hydration. (This is especially important if you’re running your heating and/ or fire place as these heating sources dry out the air.)

  • Stretch your body and do gentle exercise, including walking to help release any toxins that could be holding space within your body.

  • Weather Permitting, air out your home, even for 10 or 15 minutes to bring clean air inside.

  • Avoid places and spaces with large crowds or places with people who are sick; including public transportation.

I’m wishing you a wonderful week and hope this list will support you in boosting your wellness this season. With love,
Kristy~ xoxo
