And Away We Go...

Hello and Happy April,

I hope this finds you well as we officially move into the waves of the new energy that’s happening right now. You may notice what a big shift there has been since the last time we connected. Do you feel energized, focused, and ready to take on some projects that have been on your list? Do you feel guided to clean out, clear up, or streamline physical items, situations, and relationship dynamics? Do you feel like your body wants to focus on gentle foods, beverages, and even gentle energies? Maybe you’re feeling called to rest and receive? Maybe you’re feeling all of these aspects coming online for you seemingly all at the same time. If you said yes to any or all of these experiences, you’re tuned into the energy that’s coming through for all of us right now.

We’re receiving a big increase in light, energy, inspiration, and support to help us in moving forward in the ways that are aligned for each of us. You may find that the things that you’re being guided to focus on are similar to those of your friends and loved ones and some of you may find that your focus is more singularly focused. You’ll know what you’re being guided to focus on by your natural interest, inclination, and inspiration. As you follow your own divine guidance in regards to what you’re upgrading and shifting right now you’ll find that you begin to move forward and gain traction organically. If you’ve been feeling that this year has been a bit of a slow starter for you, take heart because this surge of energy is offering all of us a huge help in moving out of the winter slumber and into this burst of forward motion and change.
Along with this increase in light and new energy, some highly sensitive people (like yourself) may be experiencing some ascension symptoms. These symptoms can vary in the way they show up for people but some of the experiences can include but are not limited to the following:

  • Headaches

  • Body Aches

  • Low Grade Fever

  • Dehydration

  • Exhaustion and or Fatigue

  • Need for More Sleep

  • Insomnia

  • Ringing and or Pressure in Ears

  • Sinus Pressure

  • Skin Sensitivity

  • Intense Dreams and or Lucid Dreams

  • Old Issues or Memories Coming up for Healing

  • Need for Quiet

  • Need for Strong Boundaries

  • Need for Time in Nature

  • Increased Sensitivity

  • Need for Rest

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, please know that they will pass and the best thing you can do is to give yourself grace and to go at your own pace to the best of your ability. You may find that after the symptoms dissipate for you, you’ll notice an increase in your energy and clarity. You may also find that you feel lighter and more attuned to the new frequencies that are coming through at this time.

Another big theme that’s showing up right now is about big changes and fast changes. You may find that aspects that you felt weren’t shifting at all and maybe you even felt that they were in some way a “lost cause” may change very quickly in ways you may not have been expecting. If there’s been something you’ve been cultivating for some time and in your heart you know that you are being guided to continue to nurture it, please honor that guidance and wisdom. This is powerful time to pour into your dreams, goals, and hopes for yourself. Remember, every step no matter how seemingly small creates momentum and forward motion. If there is someone you need to call, something you need to research, a professional you need to reach out to, or anything at all to support your dream, please give yourself permission to say yes to this wisdom.

Self care often goes hand in hand with themes of big changes and ascension shifts. You may notice this theme showing up for you too. The big take away right now is about gentility. It may seem like a contradiction in terms to focus on forward motion, change, and also gentility; however, this is the big underlying message showing up right now. When you think about ways you can honor your own gentility, what kinds of messages, feelings, images, words, or thoughts come up for you? These are insights into your personal pathway during this time. There’s a big focus on finding ways to honor and balance making changes while also taking care of yourself. There’s a shift away from feeling or believing that only one aspect can be honored at a time. Sometimes, this shift in perception can be an adjustment, especially for highly sensitive people. Often sensitive souls choose to focus on what must be done believing that once the chore chart is complete there will be free time for them to invest in something they want to do just for fun. Often, that isn’t the case and over time it can lead to prolonged enjoyment and then often forced rest in the form of not feeling so great. (no fun at all.) This is a powerful time to practice this balanced approach to blending big changes, a big surge in energy, and honoring gentility and self care simultaneously.

So, for example you may feel inspired to create a garden space this season and begin the process of physically making the space and learning how to sew seeds for your area. You may feel guided to work with the natural rhythm of your body rather than trying to do everything all at once. You may find that you allow yourself the pleasure of enjoying the process rather than pushing yourself to treat this as a job. You may also find that this project helps to calm your nervous system and helps you to slow down. This may also be an activity that allows you to get outside, capture some quiet time, and move into a moving meditation while honing a new skill. All of this allows you to move forward on something you wanted to do while enjoying it at the same time. This quality of balance and gentility mixed in with the energy of big change and forward motion is allowing us to truly take good care of ourselves while also realizing and experiencing changes.

So, as you’re moving through this very exciting time of big changes during the month of April, please give yourself permission to ask how you can add gentility, self care, and enjoyment to the forward motion you’re experiencing right now. It will make this experience that much more positive and supportive for you.

I’m wishing you all of the very best as you honor and nurture the shifts and changes that are happening for you and yours at this time. I would love to support you and take a look at anything showing up for you right now if you feel guided to schedule a session with me.

As always, I’m sending you love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world, straight to you!
With deepest love and gratitude,
Kristy~xoxo

Cool, Calm, and Collected

Hello, I hope this finds you well as we move into May.

One of the biggest themes that has been coming through lately has been about finding ways to reduce stress and increase calm and gentility. Have you been noticing this theme showing up in your day to day life too? If so, you’re not alone; you’re not imagining it, and it’s not just you. This is a theme that I’m finding across the board for people, even people who traditionally have been able to consistently manage their stress levels. Stress has in many ways become a buzz word in our modern culture and can sometimes be used as a catch all for many life scenarios that we may be experiencing. However, that being said, I am finding this increase in stress to be a prescient theme right now and wanted to share some ways that you can reduce your stress as we move through this theme together.

As a highly sensitive person, sometimes an increase in stress, tension, or feelings of overwhelm can feel magnified. When you use techniques to support an increase of calm and comfort as a highly sensitive person, you can experience those results more quickly and on a deep or palpable level. As you integrate practices that you enjoy on a consistent basis, you’ll find that you’re more easily able to move through times of increased stress while also maintaining a level of peace, happiness, and calm. You’ll also notice that you feel more like yourself and that you’re able to find and maintain your balance. Does that mean that you won’t have some days that are tough? No, however it will allow you to move through those bumpy days a little bit easier while also increasing your good days.

One of the biggest things to remember here is that there is no one way or right way to do this work. There are only the ways that are right for you and those may change from day to day. Choosing to try a few things that you feel attracted to naturally will be a great place to start so you can find the ways or methods that work best for you. Finding what works best for you is the “right way” for you. Again, you can choose to change things up at any time you choose based on your needs and situation.

Please know this is not a be all end all list, think of this as inspiration and please add to this list with activities that work well for you. If there’s things on this list that are a fit for you great, give them a try and see how you feel. If there are things that aren’t a fit, great, let those go. Please feel free to combine techniques and make them your own. This is meant to be a support system for you so you get to decide how to work with the suggestions below so they best honor you and your life.

  • Sleep
Quality sleep is important for our overall health and well being. Making time for sleep is imperative especially when you’re experiencing increased stress. If you’re having sleep disturbances, check to make sure you aren’t being exposed to blue light before and during your sleep. Even if you enjoy falling asleep with your device on, it will prevent you from experiencing REM sleep and can interfere with serotonin and melatonin which we need. If you aren’t getting enough sleep at night, you may be guided to nap during the day, and even 30 minutes can make a positive impact. Going to sleep earlier, creating a relaxing space for sleep, and removing technology from your sleeping space can support you in experiencing quality sleep.

  • Movement
Any movement that you enjoy will allow your body to decompress from the stress that may be holding space within you. Going for a walk, riding your bike, going for a swim or any kind of movement you enjoy will help you reduce and manage your stress levels. Movement also helps your body get into a moving meditation which allows you to receive secondary benefits at the same time.

  • Sunshine
Getting outside into the sunshine even if you have to bundle up is very important. In addition to vitamin D, full spectrum sunlight helps to produce and regulate melatonin and serotonin which we need. Sunshine also helps us to increase energy, just think about the solar panels supporting the grid. We benefit from solar power too. You don’t need to overexpose yourself to the sun to receive its benefits.

  • Gentle Foods and Beverages
As the weather begins to warm up you may notice your body naturally gravitating toward lighter foods like salads, soups, smoothies, and juices just to name a few. When we’re experiencing stress, it can be easy to reach for things that can actually make us feel worse like processed foods and snacks. The more you can fuel your body with gentle foods and beverages, the easier it will be for your body to maintain a strong immune system which is taxed when exposed to prolonged stress.

  • Hydration
You may notice that stress impacts your hydration. If you notice you’re feeling parched, you may want to increase your water intake to help your body stay hydrated. There is no need to increase your hydration to the point of rinsing out your electrolytes. Just pay attention to your body so you find the right amount of water for you each day. If your lips are chapped, your scalp, sinuses, and skin are dry, and/or you feel thirsty, increase your water.

  • Music
Listening to music can uplift and shift your mood and energy quickly. Listening to music in the background rather than tv or streaming services can help you to feel better while also uplifting the energy in your home while positively impacting the people in your home too. If you are a musician, playing and practicing your instrument/s will support you and your home in multiple ways.

  • Creativity
Participating in any creative outlet that you enjoy will help you to reduce your stress levels while also nurturing your love and enjoyment for the activity. Creativity also sparks inspiration and moves you into a moving meditation which are powerful secondary benefits. You will also have something to show for your time and you will notice that you feel more relaxed and at ease during and after your creative experience. You don’t have to spend a lot of time investing in creativity to receive the benefits. You may want take a little time to place your tools, projects, or accoutrements into an easily accessible place.

  • Meditation
Any kind of meditation will support you in reducing stress and increasing calm, clarity, focus, and gentility. Whether you prefer guided meditation, traditional styles of meditation and mindfulness, or moving meditation, you will receive benefits from that practice. If you aren’t sure where to start when it comes to mediation and mindfulness, I recommend guided meditation. You can find free guided meditations on YouTube or you can use things like the calm app. There are a lot of free resources out there for you and you’ll find the right method once you get started.

  • Reading Physical Books
Physical books will give you a break from screen time and allow you to slow down while also experiencing the tactile quality that comes with reading an actual book. You will also notice your nervous system begin to relax while you enjoy your book.

  • Increasing Quiet Time
Allowing yourself to be in a quiet state allows your body and mind to rest while simultaneously calming your nervous system. It can also allow issues or themes sitting under the surface to come up so they can clear. In a world of overstimulation this simple act of quiet time is powerful.

  • Cleaning Out Clutter/Cleaning Your Home
Whether it’s cleaning out your closet, cleaning your floors, or getting to that shred pile; you will feel a lightening of your physical and mental state by attending to your physical space. Stuff out of place has an impact on our environment and our health. If you need help with this, please consider reaching out for help. If you live with other people, ask for their help so you aren’t trying to do everything all by yourself. A peaceful home supports a peaceful life.

  • Avoiding Challenging or Upsetting News Stories
It’s important to be informed and aware of what’s happening, however being inundated with bad news and negativity isn’t helpful or necessary. Reducing your exposure to upsetting news stories and social media feeds that make you feel drained or upset is important. Set aside a predetermined amount of time for information and then turn it off and move onto something else.

  • Avoiding or Reducing Challenging or Upsetting People/Dynamics
To the best of your ability, saying no to people and dynamics which are upsetting, hurtful, and draining for you is important. It’s important to guard your time and energy from those who aren’t helpful or supportive for you. It’s okay and often necessary to say no to people and situations that make you feel worse after engaging. Saying no to the best of your ability allows you to say yes to taking good care of yourself and your quality of life.

As you read through this list, you’ll notice that some of the categories can be grouped together for win wins; and in some cases: win, win, win. Yes, those groupings are a great way in increase your calm, comfort, and gentility all at once and yes, they count. For example, if you feel guided to read a physical book, you’ll be simultaneously reducing screen time, and increasing quiet time too. Please give yourself permission to enjoy the combinations that speak to you and make them your own. You don’t have to spend a lot of time doing these things, a little bit goes a long way in supporting your overall stress levels and well being. Carving out 10 minutes a day will have a significant impact on your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being. Some days you may be able to do more than 10 minutes which is wonderful but start with 10 and notice how you feel. Some of the activities like clearing out clutter or cleaning may take more than 10 minutes but their impact on you and the people who live in your home will be significant and well worth your time and effort.

I hope this will inspire you to know that you’re not alone and you can make simple but significant shifts in your daily life to support you in feeling more peaceful, grounded, and like your true self. I know you can do it, and every step counts. I’m joining you in this process as we move through these intense times together.

If you feel guided to work with me, I’m here for you.
As always, I’m sending you love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world, right to you.

With love and gratitude,
Kristy~xoxo

Here Comes the Sun

Hello, I hope this finds you well as we welcome April!

It’s finally Spring here in the Northern Hemisphere and even though there’s a lot of cold weather still happening for so many, the promise of warmer weather, sunshine, and new beginnings are here. I’m writing to you today from my home where it’s raining and cold but my tulips and violas are coming up and bringing with them a lot of joy, at least they’re bringing a lot of joy to me anyway. I think this is such a perfect analogy for this month and this time of the year. Even if things feel like they’re not shifting or maybe it feels like they aren’t shifting fast enough; when you take a look around you, you’ll see signs and messages letting you know that the shift is happening.

The beginning of Spring brings more light and length to our days and we find little markers here are there letting us know that the new season is upon us. You may notice that you’re beginning to have more energy, or that you’re feeling guided to get going on things that you’ve been meaning to do, or that you feel inspired to start something brand new. This is also a great time to dig into home projects whether inside or outside. You may feel that there’s almost an alarm clock ringing for you imploring you to begin some Spring cleaning. You may find yourself watching organization videos, or looking at home inspo photos to see what you’d like to incorporate into your own space. Maybe you’re feeling guided to start a garden this year, even if it’s a small potted garden on your patio. Maybe you’re being guided to increase your movement and you feel excited to try a new practice or go back to something you’ve previously enjoyed. All of these stirrings that happen at this time help us to re-set our homes and simultaneously help us to re-set our wellbeing. This is also a great time to re-set our goals or intentions for the year.

Moving into the beginning of Spring allows us to move with the energy in a really beautiful way. If you think of Winter as a season of being indoors and a time of rest, you can think of this first part of Spring as a time where we’re being guided to make shifts but also to take breaks. We may have days where we feel really inspired and energized and other days where we feel guided to rest and take it easy. We see this reflected in the seasonal changes too, rainy days and sunshine: cold days and warmer days. It’s like we’re being given this beautiful opportunity to move into this new season with built in structures for balance. Due to our modern lives and the demands that we’re all managing each day, it’s so nice to have an opportunity to practice balance as we start this new season.

Today, on this first day of April, I invite you to spend a little time tuning into the stirrings that you’re feeling or noticing within yourself right now. Are you being called to anything new? Do you feel guided to return to something that has been shelved for a better time, perhaps now? Do you notice or see any solutions to help you streamline any areas of your life? Do you know that it’s time to clear away some things, issues, or situations that are ready to be released? Are there things you want to bring into your life right now? Perhaps you’re longing for more joy, fun, and opportunities to spend time with people you love. Your answers to these important questions are your personal messages about how to move through this time and the beginning of this new season. You may share some similar experiences with other people in your circle which is fantastic because you can support each other during this time. You may also have some aspects that are just yours and that’s okay too. The messages, stirrings, and divine guidance that you’re receiving right now creates the personalized recipe for your needs. The more you can pay attention to the stirrings of your soul the more you’ll be able to nurture and cultivate the aspects of this season that are blossoming for you.

My wish for you this month is that you will allow yourself to honor the messages and wisdom you’re receiving while also enjoying this new season and the new opportunities it brings.

I’m sending you love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world right to you!

With love and gratitude,
Kristy~ xoxo

Moving Through + Shifting HSP Burn Out | Tools to Traverse the Turning Tides

beach.jpg

I was having a bit of a rough go trying to decide what to write about as we move into this new month. Sometimes it feels like each day and week are so similar to the one before and other times it feels like there’s so much change happening from one day to the next. Are you feeling this way too? One of the things that has really been showing up for me lately has been the repeating theme about Highly Sensitive People (like yourself) experiencing HSP burn out.

I’m definitely feeling it in my own life and I’m finding it showing up for my clients and friends as well. We’re officially nearing the halfway mark of this year and there are still so many places that are under lockdown orders and still experiencing a lot of restrictions to daily life. You may still be moving through some of this too or know people who are.

This in and of itself has definitely taken a toll, not to mention all of the other intensity, changes, and upheaval we’re seeing all over the globe no matter where we live. So many people have told me that they just feel like they are having a hard time finding balance, feeling like themselves, and finding a way to experience some semblance of peace in their day to day life. There’s lots of feelings of overwhelm and not knowing how to help, and also feeling exhausted from all of the information. If you’re experiencing any of this, I want you to know that you’re not alone.

In fact, you’re in really good company.

It’s not just you.

You’re not the only one having a tough time moving through this time on our planet.

It is a really difficult time and we’re all in it together.

As a sensitive soul it can feel magnified, and that’s not because you’re not trying hard enough.

It’s because it’s really hard.

Take a breath, a big one, in through your nose, and out through your mouth….good.

One more time.

Good job.

One of the most effective ways we can move through this time is to take a little time to check in with how we’re doing and make some adjustments to things that we can change. Taking good care of yourself will allow you to better know how to help someone else and to be ready to help too.

I’ve included 6 things that have been showing up as deep support systems for Highly Sensitive Souls during this time. Please use these as inspirations and ways to help you, but adjust accordingly to make these a fit for you and your needs. I hope these will inspire you to create some tools that will be helpful for you and for your loved ones too.

Change the Channel, Change Your Frequency, Literally. :

Intense frequencies can drain your energy and can create or lead to exhaustion without even realizing it. Just think about that one family member or colleague who always tells you all of their problems non stop; you may feel drained after interacting with them, while they feel better after taking all your energy from you. Changing the channel can help to reduce or eliminate this issue for you. Turn off your television, especially repeating news about trauma and other negative stories. (you can always set a time to check in on that information but don’t need it on all the time.)

Re-set the frequencies in your space; think about layering sounds that are pleasing and supportive for your nervous system, body, mind, and spirit. If you have a sound machine, get it out and play it in the background quietly. Your body will automatically respond to it and it will help to release and manage stress that could be holding space within you. You may also want to layer another gentle sound over that to help create an even more soothing space for you and the people in your home.

Think of walking into a spa or another relaxing place; you’ll notice there are often layered sounds happening to help you instantly shift into a resting state instead of being in the fight, flight, freeze, and fawn state that most people experience throughout the day.

Water:

Increase the amount of water that you’re drinking to help you move stress and tension out of your precious and highly sensitive body. Hydration also helps to increase clear thinking, better quality sleep, reduces cravings for foods and beverages which can have an adverse effect on the body, and helps to keep the organs responsible for cleaning and processing moving and working efficiently.

Pull Your Energy Inward:

You may need to let people know that you’re taking a break from being overly available for all the things. Highly sensitive people like yourself often over extend their energy without realizing they’re doing it, leaving them feeling drained and exhausted. You may need to turn off your phone earlier in the evening, allow some calls to go to voicemail, let emails sit in your inbox, and say no to extra demands on your time so you can find your own footing again and experience some personal life balance. Use this extra time to invest in activities that are restorative and uplifting for you. These things can include creative outlets, reading for pleasure, and yes, even resting.

Sweat:

I know, not the most glamorous thing in the world, but very effective in clearing away intense energies and increasing strength. Moving your body in a way that lets you sweat out any toxins, stress, or repeating scenarios/interactions you’re still thinking about will help you to clear your body and your mind while simultaneously leaving you feeling more like yourself. You’ll also be strengthening your body too which is a win win.

No need to jump into intense workout sessions if this isn’t something you’re already doing; going for a walk is a great full body workout that will allow you to sweat, move, and even get outside. If you’re not able to walk outside, pull out that workout mat, and do some gentle stretching or a gentle workout.

Clear Away the Old:

Let go of the things that are finished for you. Clear up any clutter that could be hanging around, it likes to sneak up when you aren’t looking, often in closets, pantry’s, and well meaning desk piles. That “to be done” stuff adds to the frenetic energy within and around you which over time can make things feel heavy and off. It can lead to overwhelm, feeling frustrated, and that no matter where you look, there’s always something else that needs to get done. Set a timer and do a quick sweep of a room, gathering up anything that is ready to go to the recycle bin, donation station, or to its rightful place in your home.

Cleaning out closets and places where clutter builds can help to lighten your load, literally; while also bringing a sense of peace and calm into your space that translates to more peace and calm in your life too.

Ask for Help:

Let people know what you need. This can be a really tough one for sensitive people, because they don’t want to add anything to anyone else’s plate. However, it’s important to let people who love you know what you need and to ask them for help. It’s also important to ask professional people in your circle for support too. If you need a referral for a service that could help you, ask someone you love and trust who they recommend.

Schedule the sessions that you need to help you, don’t wait for some elusive time where everything will be easier and you have everything figured out and perfectly balanced. You’re here right now, and asking for help and then receiving that help is part of this whole thing we’re doing called life.

I know you’re more comfortable doing the helping, but helpers need to receive help too. Schedule that reading, massage, babysitter, coaching session, hair appointment, energy treatment, or __________.

Whatever it is that you need right now, you know more than anyone what that thing is, please give yourself permission to honor that message you’re receiving. Allowing yourself to receive is one of the most important and powerful ways to help shift you into a space where you feel more like yourself again while also helping your body to come back to balance and homeostasis.

The waves have been rough out there, and the energy has been a bit of a roller coaster but you know what? You’re still here and you’re doing a great job. As you take a little time today, and tomorrow, and the next day to honor your needs and to pull your energy inward, I think you’re going to find you’re feeling more like yourself again.

Please remember to breathe, to go at your own pace, to treat yourself with the same level of kindness, compassion, and love that you so easily give to everyone else in your life, and to grant yourself a little more grace.

You’re not alone. You’re Doing it. You can Keep Doing It.

If you feel guided to reach out for support from me this month, I look forward to working with you and helping you in any way that I can.

I’m sending you so much love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world.

With so much love,
Kristy~xoxo

Looking Forward, Looking Back

Happy Anniversary.jpg

Well, we made it to March 2021 which means we’re officially closing in on the 1 year anniversary of the first round of shelter in place orders. Can you believe it’s been a whole year? Some months felt like an entire year on their own while others seemed to move along a little more quickly.

Who knew that March would become a global anniversary for all of us to take a little time to reflect on the past year... #2020. Most people have celebrated their at home birthday, (mine was yesterday) some will have theirs in the next 2 weeks; but overall we’ve experienced a lot of changes in this trip around the sun.

I was thinking about some of the big themes that showed up for me during this time and how I feel about them now, a year into this process. It’s hard to choose just one aspect because so much has changed, yet so much is still very similar. Are you finding that too?

My big themes were:

  • Streamlining

  • Simplicity

  • Surrender

When I was thinking about this, I could see how they all fit nicely under a larger umbrella of letting go but at the same time, they each feel like they had their own moment and focus during different phases of the past year.

Maybe you can see how your personal themes have a common denominator too.

For me, a huge focus was on trying to get things as smooth and simplified as possible and to keep pivoting when and where I needed to so that I could make space for the unexpected. (to the best of my ability.)

I feel like there’s almost a quality about this year that feels similar to wrapping up a school year. As a student you can look back and point to so many specific things that you accomplished, learned, overcame, and the insane hours of the non-stop getting it done-ness that comes from being a student. As adults, it seems like the growth curve tends to look and feel less severe as it did as a student. However, this past year was a lesson in what seemed like near constant growth.

If you find yourself feeling tired or a bit like you’re crawling over the one year anniversary mark, you’re not alone. We’ve been going through it, simultaneously, even if in our own homes with varying degrees and decrees of lock down orders.

I wish that I could give you a gold star, a certificate of achievement, and a huge high five to help mark all that you’ve been through and how well you handled all this constant and unexpected change handed to you.

I was thinking about the opportunity I’ve had to support people who’ve worked with me during this past year and how incredibly people were rising to the occasion in so many aspects of their lives. Often times, when things get tough we just start where we’re standing and then when we get a little reprieve we almost forget how much we’ve done because we just kept going day after day.

Maybe you:

  • Became an expert at zoom

  • Created a home office and officially joined the working from home community

  • Became a Homeschooling professional or a Distance Learning Wiz

  • Became an expert at managing multiple schedules, including your own so everyone had a place to work, study, and have some down time.

  • Became an expert at maximizing small spaces, organizing everything so your space was efficient in setting everyone up for success.

  • Became really good at capturing small but significant windows of time for yourself so you could decompress.

  • Became interested in something new like making sourdough starters, canning, gardening, meal prepping, house plants, or _______________.

  • Became interested in something that you have been meaning to get back to again like playing an instrument, pulling out that sewing machine, or actually writing pages for your book, song, or screenplay.

  • Became more clear about yourself, your needs, and the direction that you want for your life.

  • Became more connected to the real you again. Maybe you could more easily hear that small still voice inside letting you know which things were on your list of values and which things had been moved to your list of letting go.

  • Maybe you’ve fostered deeper relationships with the people in your inner circle.

  • Maybe you’ve become crystal clear about the way you want to feel, and the way you want to move forward now at this one year anniversary.

  • Maybe you can see how this time has shaken loose some of the things that were on their way out and you may not have known it at the time, but now you feel much lighter.

  • Maybe you can see how far you’ve come.

  • Maybe you can see all the progress you’ve made.

  • Maybe you can feel an increased sense of self worth and self reliance.

  • Maybe you can see actual proof in your own life reminding you that you can move toward the things that are calling you. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for and you do have what it takes to make big changes, even when they’re unexpected. Not only did you keep moving forward this past year, but you thrived while taking each step.

I think this is an important moment to stop and reflect on your own personal experiences as well as the overall impact, changes, and shifts that you’ve been a part of for someone else this past year.

None of us arrive at this anniversary alone, we arrive together even if we can only connect via technology, we’re still having this experience together.

Going forward from here, there will be more changes and shifts…more pivots and adjustments. However, it feels like the big stuff is behind us and now we can fine tune depending on where we live and the degrees and decrees of varying lock down orders.

I think two of the most important take-aways from this experience includes remembering to reach out for support when we need it; (yes, that means asking for help.) and letting the people in our lives know that we love them and are here for them even if we don’t live in the same home, community, state, or country.

Save some of that love and support for yourself too. You deserve it and you’re doing a great job!

Happy One Year Anniversary!

With so much love and gratitude, from my teeny corner of the world to you,

Kristy~xoxo

Working through Highs + Lows + Feelings of Being Stuck

peonies (2019_01_30 23_54_58 UTC).jpg

I can’t believe it’s already May; can you? I feel like this year has been such a combination of slow, slow quick, quick. (If you ever took ballroom dance and that made you think of dance class, me too.)

I’ve talked to so many people recently whether it’s clients, friends, family, or colleagues who’ve told me they feel like they’re in some kind of holding pattern and it’s been challenging trying to balance that feeling while also staying motivated. If you resonate with this feeling, you’re not alone. In addition to this feeling of waiting there are lots of people going through big changes, big shifts, and big stuff too.

Maybe you find yourself raising your hand for both groups.
Standing in a waiting room + Moving through all the stuff.

Like you and so many people this seems to be the general consensus for folks. I’ve also found myself raising my hand for both groups as of late. So, when life gets into these cycles of big changes and the waiting that comes along with perfect timing; how do we move with the cycles instead of feeling like a wheel is rolling over us?

The truth is that there is no one way to do this and there is no one right way to do this; there are just the ways that are right for you on any particular day. However; I thought that I would share some of my favorites with you in case you could use some extra support as you move through some big shifts right now too.

Change of Scenery

Sometimes simply getting outside and away from your home or office to take a breather can be a huge help in releasing the tension or stress that you’re carrying around with you. If you can go to a favorite park, the beach, a hiking trail you love, or simply a walk around the neighborhood; you’ll find that you can let down and get back to your center more easily. If you’re able to take a little trip out of town, even someplace not too far away it can help you to physically get some space so you can decompress and focus on something fun, uplifting, and hopefully relaxing.

Change the Energy

Stress has a huge impact on our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Often, we’re not even aware of the impact it’s having on us because we build up a tolerance to it as it’s woven into the fabric of our daily lives. However, when we’re under a lot of stress, we often notice a difference in the way we feel. As stress increases, our energy decreases.

You can increase your energy by listening to or playing music. You’ll feel your energy begin to shift right away, find some music that feels good and uplifting to you and let it move you back to a place that feels more like you. Changing your food by eating lighter and gentler foods and increasing your water can also support your energy management. Things like Smudging your home and office also help to shift your energy and the energy of your spaces. Receiving a Chakra Balancing or Energy treatment will help to move out the heavy energy and help you feel more like yourself again. Saying no to things, people, and situations which don’t feel supportive to you and instead creating a gentle space for yourself will help you find more balance.

Self Soothe

Think about all the self care things that you’ve put on a shelf for whatever reason. This is the time to get them down and start applying daily. Things like, Epsom Salt Baths, your favorite DIY treatments, watching your favorite movie, or taking time to invest in your creative outlet. Maybe you have a stack of books on your bed side table just waiting for you to begin reading. Maybe what you really want is to put on your favorite jammies, get into bed early, and watch old reruns of your favorite Friends episodes. It isn’t so much about what you do, it’s that you’re doing something consistently. If you need to get your stuff out where you can see it so you’ll be more likely to use it, by all means get your stuff out where you can reach it.

Move Your Body

When we move our body, we release and remove stress. This is why so many people get a workout in when they’re feeling overwhelmed because they can leave it on their mat when they’re finished working out. You don’t have to go to the gym or to a yoga studio to do this; any way that you can get some exercise will leave you feeling lighter and more like yourself again. Go for a bike ride, walk around your block, do a YouTube workout in your living room, get up a good sweat while you’re mopping your floors, or washing your own vehicle, or working in your garden. Just find ways to keep moving your body.

Be Prepared

Okay, for all of you that feel like you’re in a waiting room waiting for a new doorway to open, this one is for you. This is such a specific feeling that everyone knows what it feels like to have a combination of anticipation, excitement, anxiety, and frustration all at the same time because you know you’re about to go through a big change but you’re still in the waiting room. Get as prepared as you can to walk directly through that door when your name is called. What does that mean? It means to do things that may not be super fun but are very necessary to set you up for success and a smooth transition when it’s your turn. Things like: Updating your resume and cover letter, updating your media kit, updating your website, looking for new places to live, getting in contact with your mortgage lender or real estate agent, researching programs, classes, or universities that may be a fit for the direction in which you are moving. In whatever area you know that you’re about to experience a change, start to tick off all the things that you’ll need to do to be prepared when your door open to you. If you feel unsure of how to do any of those things, reach out for help from someone who can help you whether that is a friend or a professional. Don’t wait until your time arrives to scramble and try to throw everything together at the last minute. Prepare for a smooth transition.

Ask for Help

Whether you ask for help from people and professionals in your real life or you’re googling all the info and insight that you can find on the inter-webs, reach out for help. If you feel stuck and you ask for help, you’ll notice that you can shift the way you feel plus gain insight that will help you move forward. I call that a win win.

In addition to asking for help from people and the google, I encourage you to ask for help from your angels, guides, and anyone you feel aligned with spiritually. If you are like me and you love to receive physical signs letting you know that you’ve been heard and are being helped, just ask. I like to ask for a physical sign in my real life that I easily notice and understand to let me know that I’ve been heard and that I’m being helped. Feel free to use this one too if it resonates for you. I like big, bright, bold signs so I know right away it’s for me and this works well.

I know this was a long message this time, but I know that you’re going through a lot or you know someone who’s going through a lot. I hope this will offer you some support and comfort as we all collectively move through this time of great change.

I’m sending you lots of love and support,
Kristy~ xoxo

Love, A Powerful Investment

valenine garland.jpg

Happy Belated New Year and Happy February!
I hope this finds you well as we move into the second month of the year and the teeniest month of the year.
(Also my favorite month of the year) 😊

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to focus on this month as I feel like so much has happened since I last checked in with you. You may have been wondering why I didn’t send a Happy New Year message to you in January like usual. Well, it wasn’t that I wasn’t thinking about you or anything like that. A family member passed during the holidays and as you can imagine it’s taken some time for me to get back to my schedule and regular activities.

So here we are in a brand new month and while I’m still taking things day by day, I am back to work and it feels great to be connecting with you. (On a brand new computer no less. In fact, this is my inaugural writing on the new computer. My tried and true old computer decided to retire on me during that big eclipse.)

I was trying to decide what to write about and a really strong theme kept showing up for me over the last several weeks and it was:

Invest in Love, Starting with You.
It sounds so simple, and it is in a way but it’s also really powerful.

As we’ve been moving through grief individually and as a partnership in our home, this theme has shown up over and over again. What I kept being shown was that as we invest in what love means to us, starting with us then we fill our days and lives with love.

Loving Ourselves can sometimes be a challenging task.

  • Maybe you didn’t grow up in a home where loving yourself was a strong value or perhaps you weren’t shown how to love yourself.

  • Maybe you grew up around folks who taught you that loving and taking care of yourself or holding healthy boundaries was selfish or not something to be practiced.

  • Maybe you weren’t encouraged or supported as you invested in the things, ideas, projects, or passions that really spoke to you.

  • Maybe you were coerced or placed in front of things that your loved ones felt would be a more appropriate choice for you and your life.

No matter what may have kept you from investing in Love, Starting with You in the past doesn’t mean you can’t begin to invest in Love now. The great thing about this, is that you can apply it to every area of your life and as you invest in Love, it Grows and fills You with Love too.

This doesn’t have to be some “out there” non tangible concept, you can apply it to your life right now; today.

Ask yourself the following questions; and answer with the very first thing that comes to your mind. There are no wrong answers here, and the answers you receive will give you great insight into how you can Invest in Love, Starting with Yourself. (No one is going to see your answers, ask you to share, or read them aloud; so please give yourself permission to really go for it as you answer.)

  • What Do I love? ______________________________________________

  • What Areas of My Life Would I like to Experience More Love? ________________________________

  • How Can I Love Myself More, Today? ________________________________

  • How Can I Fill My Home with More Love? _____________________________

  • How Can I Fill My Relationships with More Love? _____________________________

  • Who Do I Want To Tell that I love Them? _____________________________

  • What Area of My Life that I Love has been Placed onto the back burner? Why? _____________________________

  • How Can I Invest in Love, Today? _______________________________

  • How Can I Invest in Love, This Year______________________________

Great job, now you have a clear understanding of some places and spaces within your life where you can Invest In Love, Starting with You.

The truth is that Investing in Loving Yourself is a Slam Dunk of an Investment.

You are worthy of loving yourself and investing in yourself, daily.
As you take good care of yourself which includes applying Love Daily you can support, love, and care for others in your world much more completely.

Taking care of yourself is a must and it’s the opposite of selfishness.
Loving Yourself is an act of Service because you automatically bring and share love wherever you go and with everyone who crosses your path.

I’m sending you so much love and intending that you easily Invest in Love, Starting with You, today and all year long.

Thank you so much for being a part of my life, I’m so grateful for you.
If you feel like you could use some additional support through an Intuitive Session or an Energy Treatment I would love to work with you!

With love and gratitude,
Kristy~xoxo

Home + Healing + Holidays

welcome-november.jpg

This month brings with it so many feelings as we officially greet the last 8 weeks of 2018. Maybe you’re feelings some of the feels too; some of the ones that really stand out to me are things like…

  • How is it already, November?

  • What things did I get off my list this year and which things are still sitting on the back burner and why?

  • How will I spend the holiday season and with whom?

  • How will I make time for the things that are important to me and graciously say no to the things that don’t make the list this year?

  • Why am I feeling a tinge (or tidal wave) of sadness show up for loved ones that have passed even though it’s been many years since they went home?

Are any of these things showing up for you right now?
If so, know that you’re not alone.

A pre-wrap up for the year plus home stuff, healing, and holidays all begin to swim around at this time. Because so many big themes seem to come to the surface at this time, it’s natural to feel lots of deep feelings.

I find that the combination of the days getting darker and shorter (here in the Northern Hemisphere) and all the themes showing up at this time force us to pull inward and dig deep on how we’re feeling and focus on how we want to wrap up the year.

This doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy, celebrate, and create joy during this season. Celebration is part of the holiday season but it’s also important to give yourself permission to tend to your emotional needs too.

Finding a balance between the joy and moving through your feelings is very important. Even though it may seem counter-intuitive, this balancing process allows you to move into the celebration experience more fully.

Giving yourself permission to be where you’re at allows you to move through the wave of emotions so you can move to the next space organically; rather than forcing festivities.

There’s no one way or right way to honor this season, there are only the ways that feel right for you at this time.

  • You may feel guided to participate in a special tradition that allows you to connect to something special from your childhood.

  • Maybe you want to make something that a departed loved one always made at this time of year.

  • Maybe for you, creating a new tradition will support you in feeling more connected to this time of year and your own personal love of the season.

  • You may also feel guided to take a little time this month to gently go over the goals or intentions you've created for yourself.

  • You may want to update your vision board or pull out that list that you’ve been ticking away at during 2018.

Taking a little time to honor all that you’ve accomplished and experienced this year is equally important as focusing on what comes next for you.

This is a great time to do a little rewind on your year and really take it all in along with the accolades that you would give to someone else who accomplished what you’ve done this year.

Some of the things that can add additional support for you this month is focusing on themes that feel supportive.
Things like:

  • Calm

  • Quiet

  • Gentle

  • Cozy

  • Rest

Getting into your favorite jammies or sweats a little bit earlier in the evening, enjoying a warm cup of tea or cider, and snuggling under your favorite blanket can make a huge difference in the way that you feel.

As this season can tend to increase the things that need to get done and the places that you may need to be, making a conscious effort to slow down in seemingly small ways can help you to find that balance that’s right for you.

  • What is something that really makes you feel comforted and supported?  _________________

  • What is something that you absolutely love to do that really feels like fall to you? __________________

  • How can you add more of these things into your days this month? ________________________

When you say yes to your own personal boundaries and needs you more easily move into that place of personal balance. Finding your balance will allow you to experience the kind of season that fills you with joy, happiness, and peace.

You’re absolutely worth investing the time to honor the things that soothe and support you. You don’t have to invest a ton of time in doing this, but you’ll receive so much from this investment and it will be well worth your time.

I’m wishing you a wonderful and gentle month filled with things and people that rise up to greet you! For those of you celebrating Thanksgiving, I’m wishing you a wonderful holiday!

With love and support,

Kristy~xoxo

Eucalyptus Spa Treatment

Screenshot_20180324-125100.png

Eucalyptus Spa Treatment

The Eucalyptus plant is naturally:
Anti-Bacterial
Anti-Microbial
Anti-Inflammatory
Antiseptic

It also supports:
Respiratory System + Respiratory Health
Stress Management
Mood Elevation

You can create a quick and easy at home spa treatment which will allow you to experience the benefits of Eucalyptus every time you take a shower.

You can find Eucalyptus cuttings at Farmers Markets, Natural Grocery Stores like Whole Foods, and I’ve even seem them at Trader Joe’s.

Simply tie your branches with twine or another natural fiber to your shower head. (Avoid using synthetic fibers like acrylic.) If you don’t have any natural fiber handy, you can use the rubber band that comes with your branches or a hair tie.

Push your branches as far back against your shower wall as possible; this will allow you to keep your branches in the shower for more days before replacing them.

You want the heat from your shower to activate the Eucalyptus so you can give yourself a spa treatment; however you want to try to avoid your branches getting beaten too hard with the water pressure from your shower head.

Honestly there is no “wrong” way to do this and the treatment is wonderful. Plus, it will make your whole bathroom smell incredible. You’ll naturally receive all the benefits from the Eucalyptus plant and you don’t have to “do anything” to make it happen other than enjoy your shower.

Enjoy!

Love,
Kristy~

Smudging 101

smudging.jpg

Smudging 101

Smudging is a form of space clearing that’s been used for generations to cleanse, uplift, and shift physical spaces, outdoor spaces, people, pets, and objects. Smudging with Sage helps to move out stale dense, or negative energy. It can also be used to purify air and to clear away germs and bacteria.

Space clearing helps to move out stale or dense energy and makes space for the new to come into our lives. Space clearing helps to lighten and brighten the feeling, vibration, and quality of the space and it's something that you, your loved ones, and pets will feel and benefit from.

  • If you or a loved one who lives with you suffers from Asthma or other breathing issues, Smudging is NOT the best Space Clearing option for you and you should use a different method to clear your home.

  • If you live in an apartment, you may need to check your building regulations to check to see if you’re allowed to burn sage. If not, you should use a different method to clear your home.

You can find sage bundles at most health food stores or you can make your own.
You can add a rosemary bundle to your sage, lavender, or roses if you feel guided.
If you want to create your own bundles just make sure to use natural fibers to wrap your herbs.
Do Not use acrylic or other synthetics fibers to wrap your sage bundles.
If you want to add additional herbs or flowers to your sage bundle you may want to research the meaning for each flower you choose. You can easily find the flower meanings with a quick internet search. Each flower or herb that you choose has its own special clearing and healing element supporting a deep clearing of your home and or office space.

Choose a non-flammable dish to rest under your bundle so you don't get embers on your furniture or flooring. (Some people use abalone shells but you can choose whatever is right for you.)

Then open all your windows so the old energy can move out when you begin smudging.
This is also important because your space will be filling with smoke and you want to avoid your smoke alarm being activated.
You may also want to turn on any ceiling fans to help circulate the air.

Before you begin you can set intentions for your space and your clearing; you can ask your angels to be with you and support the clearing process, or anything that feels right for you.

Then light your sage bundle carefully, it may take a minute to light and begin to produce smoke.

Begin moving throughout your home, office, or other space allowing your sage to waft. Make sure that you smudge behind doors, in corners, under furniture if possible, and in places or spaces that aren’t used very often. If there are any rooms or areas that feel off to you, spend more time in there allowing the sage to clear and waft over the entire space. Walk into and around every room you’re clearing.

Smudge electronics, televisions, routers, cell phones, websites, social media accounts etc.
You can bring the online accounts or websites you would like to clear up on your device and clear them with the smoke.

Continue smudging until you’ve cleared every space. If you’re clearing your home, make sure that you clear the front and back doors, and every door leading to the outside especially well. Clear both sides of the doors, so you’ll have to go outside to do this.

Clear your property and any out buildings you have including garages and sheds.
If there are weird spots on your property, spend more time clearing those areas.

You'll feel the space shift and snap, similar to snapping a sheet as the space clears of old energy.
You may notice a deep calm come over the space, you, and anyone else in the space. Sometimes the space will feel and even look bigger after it’s been cleared. There is a palpable shift and you'll feel it. When you're finished make sure you stop your bundle from burning, you may want to use some water to ensure that it's out. Place your smudge bundle and your dish somewhere that it will be safe so you can smudge again when you feel guided. You can continue to use the same smudge bundle until it’s completely gone.

Smudging is a powerful tool to keep your spaces uplifted, supportive, and feeling like you.
I hope you’ll enjoy this method of space clearing as much as I do.

Love,
Kristy~ xoxo

Detox Citrus Bath Treatment

Citrus Bath.png

I'm a big bath person and I believe there's a bath for nearly every life situation. If you're feeling a little sluggish, are getting over something, want to reduce inflammation, or you want to maintain your body's great health, this detox bath recipe is great. This treatment will also help to shine up your skin and scalp while pulling stored toxins from your body. (Yes, you'll need to dunk your head for the scalp treatment.) Because of the detoxifying nature of this particular treatment, you'll want to drink water during your soak, but more on that below. I hope you enjoy this invigorating bath treatment.

2 Cups of Epsom Salt
1 Cup of Baking Soda
1 Cup of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Large handful of Fresh Mint (Peppermint or Spearmint, your choice)
1/4 Cup Dried Green Tea or 4-5 Tea Bags
2 Limes Sliced
1 Large Lemon Sliced
1 Grapefruit Sliced

Draw bath with hot water to your comfort level, test the heat before entering water.
Dissolve Salts while bath is filling
Add Apple Cider Vinegar while bath is filling
Roll or break Mint in your hands to release scent and add while bath is filling
Add Green Tea and Citrus to the top of water once bath is filled

Soak in bath water for a minimum of 20 minutes and up to 40 minutes to allow your body to absorb the salt, baking soda, vinegar, tea, herbs, and citrus.

Drink Citrus or Cucumber Water while soaking in this Detox bath; this treatment pulls toxins out of your body so you'll want to hydrate during the treatment. You may notice that you sweat during this treatment, it's completely natural as sweating is one of your body's natural detoxifying systems.

After your bath, continue drinking water to hydrate your body and try to rest for at least 30 minutes. This bath treatment is great before bed or when you have a gentle day of rest and relaxation planned. This detox treatment isn't a great choice for right before work or before running errands.

Add On's:
Candles
Gentle Music
Cozy Bathrobe and Slippers

Enjoy!
Love, Kristy~

Honoring Your Sensitivity During Stressful Situations

With all of the intense news stories over the last couple of weeks, energies have been running high. I’ve definitely found myself deeply impacted by the global and national news and have found my heart weighing heavy. I’m sure that you as a highly sensitive person have felt it too.

It seems that nearly every client I’ve worked with in the last couple of weeks has felt a heavy heart, a bit of pain in their neck and shoulders, a feeling of heaviness or lethargy, and a deep sadness about the recent events.

As a sensitive person, not only do you move through your own personal feelings about any kind of challenging or painful situation but you’re also impacted by the global thoughts, feelings, and overall impact as well. This can create another layer of heaviness and or pain in addition to the feelings and emotions that you’re already working through.

When intense or deeply painful feelings are being experienced it’s even more important to take really good care of yourself. It can feel like a bit of a challenging cycle when you’re feeling overwhelmed or lethargic and trying to manage a really busy schedule. Often times, the thing that gets put onto the back burner during highly stressful times is self care. This can then lead to a whole other ball of wax that can lead to getting sick and exhaustion.
Not a good thing.

I wanted to share some of my favorite quick ways to foster self care as a way to offer you some extra support right now.

Please know this is not an end all be all list, it’s just a jumping off place for you to get some ideas and try different things to see what works for you.

What I know for sure is that you don’t have to spend a lot of time investing in self care to make a positive impact in your day.

However, you do have to do something.

Small segments of time invested in your self care adds up and is worth every moment of your time. I promise you, You Are Worth the investment. All the people within your world will benefit from you taking time for yourself, including you.

Smudge
Burning Sage to clear yourself and your home or office helps to clear away heavy and dense energies that have built up within and around you. This method is a powerful way to completely clear your environment and it quickly shifts the energy. Smudging electronics is also very helpful especially since so much of our information and communication is transmitted through our devices. This method does have a strong smell and creates smoke so you’ll need to open your windows while you sage your home or office. If you aren’t able to burn sage do to an allergy or building codes you can also use the sage spray. (Don’t spray water directly onto electronics or fabrics.) You can find sage at most health food stores and it’s very affordable. You don’t have to use the entire sage stick or spray bottle to clear your home or office; one sage stick or bottle provide many clearings.

Breath Work
Breathe. During stressful situations, people begin to mouth breathe which turns up the stress response in the body including increasing stress hormones which then flood the body creating a stress cycle. Breathe in through your nose, hold the breath for a count of 2 and then breathe out through your mouth for a count of 2. Repeat this breathing technique 3 to 4 times through. This works like a control alt delete for the body and helps to reset your central nervous system to rest and restore which is your natural state.

Disconnect
Turn off your phone, computer, tablet, and any other device for 10-15 minutes. Yes, you can do it. Then physically move into a quiet space and breathe. If you can physically move your body even if it’s a walk around the office, house, or block do it. The body holds onto the electromagnetic frequencies from your devices and it’s physically draining on the body. Disconnecting allows you to recharge your battery.

Go Outside
Getting outside allows your body to breathe fresh uncirculated air while also decompressing from the energies which have build up inside your home or office. It also exposes you to sunlight which is good for your health, allows you to physically slow down and get back onto your natural body clock which is very different from your digital clock. 5-10 minutes makes a huge difference. Try not to take your devices outside with you if possible.

Essential Oils
Pure essential oils are a wonderful support system physically, emotionally and mentally, and spiritually. You can mix a few drops with a carrier oil like coconut oil and rub it onto your wrists, chest, and bottoms of your feet to help soothe, comfort, and relax you. Some relaxing and soothing oils include:
Lavender
Bergamot
Lemon
Eucalyptus
Rose
You can also diffuse them into your home or office to help create a soothing environment for yourself and others. This is a diffuser that I’ve used and really like. (But there are endless choices available.)

Now Foods Ultrasonic Real Bamboo Diffuser
NOW Foods- Nutrition and Wellness

Sweat
Yep, sweating literally moves heavy and stressful energies out of your physical body which helps you to feel better physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually too. It doesn’t matter how you work up a sweat. You can sit in a sauna or steam room, workout, lay out, garden, build something, dance, or any way that works for you.

Nap
Even if you aren’t a napper, resting or closing your eyes for 15 minutes or longer allows your body to go into rest and restore. During sleep the body repairs itself so investing in sleep helps your body to heal, clear, and come back to balance.

Spoonk
I’m not affiliated with Spook but I love their mats and they really work. This mat puts pressure on the meridians in the body releasing the comfort, restore, and renew hormones in the body while moving out stress and tension. This mat also helps to decrease pain and pressure that comes from sitting at a computer for long periods of time and has been shown to reduce inflammation in the body. (Inflammation leads to pain.)

Energy Work/Body Work
If you enjoy energy work or body work, this helps to clear away heaviness, tension, stress, grief, and or pain from the body. When you’re feeling like something is off or you know that you are carrying around extra stuff that you want to release, working with a trusted healer is a great way to honor your self care.

Creativity
Any kind of creative outlet that you enjoy will help you to clear, self soothe, and move into a place that feels nurturing to you. Make things, play music, decorate, write, create, color in a coloring book, or cook a delicious meal. The options here are endless, the big shift is the doing part. Make time to do your creative outlet and don’t talk yourself out of it because it will take too long to get started or because__________. Invest in your creativity.

Talk It Out
Sometimes talking about how you’re feeling allows you to open a floodgate you may not have even realized was closed. A trusted friend, family member, partner, coach, or therapist can be a powerful source of support for you.

Highly sensitive people often bottle up their feelings because they don’t want to burden their loved ones or add anything to someone else’s already overflowing plate. They often tend to be the person that others come to for help which can compound their situation.

If you find yourself in this group, the group who feels guilty talking about your feelings, needs, or stressors, I recommend working with a counselor, coach, or therapist rather than a loved one. They have time to talk to you and you aren’t bothering them or adding too much to their list or load. It’s important for you to release your feelings as well as the feelings and conversations you’re carrying around with you from your loved ones.

I hope this helps to give you some ideas of how to increase self care in your day to day schedule.

P.S. Do you have a friend or family member who’s also highly sensitive? If so, please share this with them so they can invest in their self care and decompress from stress too. Thank you!

Summer's Here, Time For A Change In Direction

Well, it’s officially summer in the northern hemisphere and it’s super hot in my teeny corner of the world. Whether you are sipping iced tea trying to keep cool like I am or if you live somewhere where the weather is more comfortable; one thing is sure we are into a brand new season. A new season always brings with it change, new energy, and new “tasks.”

The long summer days, the heat, and the break from school give us a clear message about the tasks on deck for this particular season. This season is all about slowing down, getting outside, and getting some warm sunshine on your skin. While you may not be out of school or off work for the summer (I’m not either) the message about slowing down is still really strong.

A couple of weeks ago I participated in an event that was dedicated to celebrating fun, self care, and a little bit of pampering.  I was working as one of the vendors and offered small complimentary sessions to participants throughout the entire event. The number one message that came through during the event was a need for more:

  • Self Care
  • Down Time
  • Fun
  • Restructuring of Day to Day Activities to Create More Balance

This message was not only a strong theme during that event but I’ve seen it continue over the last couple of weeks with clients and friends. Whenever there’s a big wave of any messages coming through I know that people are feeling it across the board.

  • How about you?
  • Are you feeling the need for some deep self care?
  • Some real rest?
  • The ability to walk away from your technology and communication devices and just breathe without worrying about what you need to do next?

Does just thinking about having a little more time for yourself make your body relax?
Well, if so, you’re not alone.

And, the great news is that this season is the perfect time for you to actually enjoy more time for yourself, time with loved ones, and time doing things that you love… even if that means simply sitting in your garden or on your front porch listening to the bees working.

The long hot days impact the way that our physical bodies feel making us slow down which helps us to rest, restore, and renew. This is also a time where excess stuff seems to feel even more overwhelming than usual. This feeling of wanting to streamline helps to eliminate excess distractions which contribute to more tension and stress within and around us. If you’re thinking about having a yard sale or donating a lot of belongings you are no longer using, then you are right on the mark for this clearing away task that is happening right now.

This is also a big travel time and an opportunity to get outside even if the only traveling you can do right now is day trips to places within your local area. Getting outside regularly will help you to unwind from stress or pressure, get back to your natural body clock, (which most likely doesn’t match your daily agenda or to do lists) and drink in the healing power of the sun. Being outside in the sun is really beneficial mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Yes, of course responsible sun exposure is important but like all living beings on this planet, we need sun. The sun actually gives us energy and helps to balance us while clearing away tension. If you think about the sun’s ability to power vehicles, homes, and office buildings, you can see that the sun also powers us. Not to mention the beneficial vitamin D that we receive from being in the sun. Those who have seasonal affective disorder (raising hand) know first hand how challenging it is to live somewhere with limited sunlight a large portion of the year. The sun literally helps to increase happiness, energy, and clear thinking.

Think back to a time when you were younger, maybe after swimming and then laying on the concrete to warm up and feeling the warm summer sunshine soaking into your pores. This is a quintessential childhood summer feeling to me and a great one to use as a guide as you move through this season.

You don’t literally have to lie out on the concrete, maybe a nice lounge chair instead. Give yourself permission to bask in the warm and comforting energy of the sun. Pay attention to the way that your body feels, the way that your racing thoughts become quieted, the deep breathing you’re able to experience, and your overall relaxation level.

This feeling is a good barometer of the season. See how many ways you can create this experience for yourself throughout the day. You don’t need a lot of time to move into a place which feels supportive of you. Simply stopping and walking away from the computer for a few minutes, sitting in your backyard and having a glass of lemonade, going to a movie in the park or anything that allows you to slow down and shift your focus from doing to receiving will do. The more of these shifts to receiving you can build into your long summer days, the more you will feel like yourself again. Give yourself permission to build in a little bit of that childhood freedom and fun that comes with summer into your “grown up” summer too.

Enjoy the energy of this season, slow way down, do things that make you feel like a kid again. Let go of the extraneous whether it’s physical stuff, an overbooked schedule of things that don’t make your heart sing or a combination of both.

Host a porch party, garden party, or a game night. Drink in the summer air and walk around your home without shoes on. Drink iced tea out of a mason jar, make some homemade popsicles, and play tourist in your own town.

This is a season all about getting back to fun and you my dear, are worth it!

Fresh Season, Fresh Start

Here we are at a brand new month, and creeping up on a brand new season.
For me, even though I’m no longer in school, I still connect June with school getting out for the summer. The energy feels lighter somehow, even though there’s still ‘adulting’ to do and work to be done, something feels different. The lighter energy feels like a well deserved gift after the intensity and rough patches that have shown up this year. If you’re thinking over some of the challenges you’ve experienced so far, trust me when I say you’re not alone. Clients, friends, and family have all told me that they’ve experienced a bit of a one step forward two steps back experience during the first half of 2016. I’ve definitely had my fair share of the same experience. We’ve all been riding this roller coaster together.

The great news is that as we step into the second half of 2016 ( I know, crazy right?!) things feel like they’re going to move more easily and organically. So, this is a great time to get back to your to do lists, projects, and partially started things that have been on hiatus for you. You may find that some of the things you wanted to work on at the beginning of the year aren’t as prescient for you now. Other ideas and inspiration may be in the forefront for you now. Great, this is a perfect time to re-prioritize what you want to do and how you want to spend the last half of 2016.

Give yourself permission to be really honest with yourself about what you want to do and what you want to release. Sometimes it can be easy to feel obligated to keep things on the list that you feel should be there even though you have no desire to do them. Depending on what’s on your list there’s always more than one option in dealing with the less than fun items.

  • You can ask someone to help you
  • You can hire it out
  • Or, you can literally cross it off your list and say no thank you.

Sometimes things that were a fit at one time are no longer a fit now; and that’s okay. In fact I think that’s a huge take away that’s come through from the first part of the year. There’s been a lot of opportunity to reflect on what’s important, what’s worth investing in and what’s ready to be released.

Add some things to your list that feel really good to you, things that get you excited, and things that will bring you joy. Think about how you can include fun to your daily life while moving toward the goals and dreams that you want to accomplish during the rest of the year. I think summer is a great season to support this balance between work and play. The weather is warm, the days are long and it seems easier to make fun a priority.

Use this season as a way to cultivate the healthy habit of sprinkling fun and joy into your day to day life. Give yourself permission to invest in the life that you want to live and let go of the stuff that doesn’t match up to that life.

This is your life and you have full permission to live it your way.

How can you add more fun, joy, and playtime to your schedule this month?

Leave a message in the comment section so we can share ideas.

Wishing you a wonderful transition into summer which officially happens on Monday, June 20th. There’s a full moon on that day too, so it’s going to be a big energy shift.

With love,
Kristy~

P.S. Do you have a friend or colleague who could use a little more balance in their life? If so, please pass this message on to them for me. Thank you so much in advance!
